About the Daughters of Abraham

About Us

The Daughters of Abraham Women’s Interfaith Book Group was founded in response to the events of September 11, 2001, by and for women of the three Abrahamic faiths—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Our group reads books that explore themes of religion, spirituality, and the lived experience of faith. These selections span a range of genres, including biography, fiction, memoir, history, and poetry, offering rich opportunities for meaningful dialogue.

Through these discussions, we deepen our understanding of each other’s faith traditions and personal journeys. In doing so, we build a unique and lasting community of friendship and mutual respect.

Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds—mothers, grandmothers, doctors, teachers, lawyers, engineers, ordained clergy, retirees, and more—reflecting the diversity of religious expression and life experience. We gather monthly to discuss each book, sharing perspectives rooted in our personal experiences, rather than speaking on behalf of any religious institution.
